Woman, 87 mugged by alley gang
A PENSIONER faces weeks in hospital after breaking her hip when she was battered to the ground during a Sheffield street robbery.

She was with a 75-year-old woman walking along an alley beside Barry's Bar on London Road, Sharrow, when the attack happened.
They were approached by a gang of five Asian youths who grabbed at the older woman's handbag, pulling her backwards and causing her to crash to the ground and smash her head.
The gang fled from the scene towards Club Garden Walk, leaving the two terrified women to raise the alarm.
Detective Constable Nicola Cooper branded the robbery "despicable".
"These two friends meet up once a week to go to a local pub for a couple of drinks together and were on their way there when this happened," she said.
Fake Gucci Monogram Handbags"They have lived in the area for years and it was the last thing they expected to happen. At 87 years old the woman robbed was obviously vulnerable and those involved in this recognised that and struck.
"She now faces weeks and weeks in hospital after her operation."
The robber is believed to have been aged around 15, between 5ft 1in and 5ft 4ins tall, medium build and wearing a hooded top.
Police say the alley where the gang struck is overlooked by flats on Leverton Drive and hope some residents may have witnessed the incident at 8.50pm on Sunday.
