Woman, 40, tried to steal hand
AWOMAN with a prolific criminal past stole a handbag as a gift for her daughter, Cardiff magistrates heard.
led tubesAmanda Mortimer-Brown, 40, of Ferry Road, Butetown, Cardiff, pleaded guilty to stealing the pounds 49 handbag from TK Maxx on January 22.
She took the item into a women's changing room and took the security tag off and disposed of it.
But when she attempted to make off with the handbag, staff stopped her Fake Chanel Flap Handbags and called police.
She made full admissions and the court was told the offence was in breach of a conditional discharge she received for possession of drugs in 2007. In mitigation, Mortimer-Brown, who is on a course of methadone, told the court the handbag was a present for her 24-year-old daughter.

Her defence solicitor said her client's offending, which "averaged every six months", had slowed down.
Magistrates adjourned the case for a pre-sentence report and Mortimer-Brown will reappear on February 26.
